For nearly 3 years, Autism Consulting and Training has provided educational therapy for our 9 year old daughter who is diagnosed with Autism. Our daughter has made significant gains in her academic and social skills, as well as in her verbal communication. She is now less frustrated and can use words and basic sentences to state her needs and wants. We plan to continue to use ACT to help our daughter overcome her challenges and improve her future. Jen Lingle and her staff, have shown themselves to be dedicated teachers who are not only well trained and capable, but also very caring. They take a vested interest in the kids and support the parents at the same time. Jen’s ability to communicate with parents and assess the educational and emotional needs of a student is outstanding. She truly loves working with people, listening to their needs and providing guidance. She has been a true asset to my daughter’s huge improvement. We can’t say ‘Thank you’ enough for what you’ve done for our daughter and all the students you teach and love. You’ll never know what your child can accomplish if you don’t’ give them the opportunity.

As the founder of Moms Reach, a local organization in Miami, Florida that provides information and support to families with children on the autism spectrum, I am always interested in new and innovative services that will benefit our kids. Little did I know that Jen Strauss’ Autism Consulting and Training would have such a profound effect on my own family.
I contacted Jen with the hopes that she could provide academic tutoring services for my daughter. It didn’t take long for me to realize that referring to Autism Consulting and Training as a tutoring service is an enormous understatement! After an intensive initial evaluation, Jen created an amazingly detailed program that covered the academic, social and sensory issues that my daughter was experiencing both in school and at home. Jen then handpicked Vanessa del Campo, our tutor, who was nothing short of wonderful. Between Jen’s brilliant program and Vanessa’s inspired implementation, my daughter’s academic skills were quickly brought up to grade level, her social skills improved dramatically and her sensory issues diminished. As far as I’m concerned, Jen and her team are miracle workers!
We love Autism Consulting and Training!

Jen, you helped us more than you could ever imagine! We were at a point in our lives that we didn’t know what to do or where to turn and then we found YOU! What a blessing you were in our lives! A whole year has gone by and things are 100% better than they were.
You gave me the tools to help “us” as much as Bailey and I think we have made more changes than she has but thats a good thing. We now better understand our daughter and her needs because of you! Thanks for all you do for kids and their families! You’re ONE IN A MILLION!!!!!

“Jen has been working with our son, Simon, for several months now. Her services have
helped Simon greatly with his academic skills, particularly reading, as well as with managing challenging behaviors, such as physical aggression (e.g., pinching, scratching) that had been a result of frustration.
Jen is now a key member of the team of people who assist Simon in making progress, and we really consider her to be a part of our family. One of the best things that has come out of Jen’s work with our son is the deep bond the two of them have formed, which is huge for a kid whose autism makes it difficult for him to connect with other people. Recently, Simon asked Jen if he could come over to her house for a pizza party. This was completely self-initiated, and was the first time he had ever requested to go to someone’s house. Jen responded by having our whole family over for dinner, and the look on Simon’s face when he walked into her home was one of pure joy. We were thrilled that Simon had the language to ask if he could visit Jen at home, that he felt bonded enough with her that he wanted to do it, and that Jen was so committed to him and his progress that she granted his request.
Specific results we’ve noticed since Simon has been working with Jen include:
- Progress in literacy—increased recognition of sight words, increased fluency in reading, and stronger interest in books and creating stories
- Huge improvement in handwriting legibility and drawing skills
- Decrease in aggressive behaviors due to an ability to better regulate feelings of frustration
- Improvement in expressive language (e.g., he is better able to tell us when he doesn’t like something).
We have been involved with many different therapeutic activities since Simon was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder six years ago, but we have seen him make the greatest strides through the work he has done with Jen and Autism Consulting and Training. Jen is enormously invested in her clients and in the autism community in general. She is a highly skilled special educator, her methods are systematic and data-driven, and she has a gift for connecting with children with autism and their families.”

“My son has high functioning autism. He needed additional help scholastically, in math, to achieve at his grade level. He also needed assistance with refining developing social skills and awareness. We received these things and so much more than we could have ever expected.

Ms. Jen Lingle is a gifted practitioner and educator. My son was highly resistant to working with her at first. Now when he sees her he is delighted. We all are, actually. Ms. Jen obviously has an intuitive gift for finding her “in” with children. Once there, she skillfully worked to implement an individualized plan for my child. She was excellent at evaluating and teaching to his particular learning style!
School meetings can be very stressful. I always felt like my son had an expert advocate in his/our corner. Ms. Jen was always willing to attend meetings or speak with EC personnel, teachers, and administrators. She was willing to evaluate and make recommendations regarding my son’s IEP. She helped create a reassuring sense that there was an overlap, an integration, between what needed to be learned at school and at home.
At the end of the previous school year, my son passed his math EOG’s for the first time without having to re-test. We have also seen marked improvement with social interactions and skills as he transitions into middle school. In every situation where the subject of autism comes up, I always bring up Ms. Jen’s name and how we benefited from her expertise, the services she offers, and the results she produced. We consider her more than a skilled autism service provider. We consider ourselves lucky to have been able to work with her. We consider her a blessing.”

“It has been a pleasure for our family to work with Ms. Jennifer Strauss of Autism Consulting & Training for the past six years. Our 12 year old son Robert, who is diagnosed with severe autism, adores Ms. Jen. When Ms. Jen comes over its like Mary Poppins has just walked through the door. His face lights up as he watches her set up and he stays attentive and focused for the entire one hour session.
Ms. Jen is amazing and has a very special talent for working with our children. The one hour session flies by as she goes from one lesson and activity to the next. She incorporates music and dancing with each session which our son loves. Jennifer is extremely professional and punctual and has been consistent all the years we’ve known her. My son has progressed so much over the years and we are very thankful to Ms. Jen for helping him achieve so many milestones.”

“Autism Consulting and Training Inc. was a tremendous help in our son Juan’s development. Our son has autism and Jennifer Strauss started working with him early in kindergarten. She was able to help him transition from a self contained classroom into a more academically structured class in first grade. She helped him develop academically and also with social norms. He is now in public school mixed in with mainstream students. Autism Consulting and Training, Inc. was a big part of Juan’s success. We are forever grateful to Miss Jen.“

“Jen is the most loving and dedicated person to children affected with autism. She gives 100% of herself to each and every child she works with. I have had the pleasure and privilege of being her friend and a mother of one of her students. My son, Tyler, worked with her for four years making tremendous progress. We are lucky to know her and our lives are richer because of it. We love Jen with all of our heart. She has made an impression on our lives that will always remain with us.”
